Stamping Backgrounds

I'm not a big white fan - I love color. But sometimes I like to use white as an accent, and white cardstock does make a great card base. I just like to add to it:
Using the diamond shape from the agedornaments stamp set (T-2803, page 60), I stamped both the background and focal images for this card. For the background, I inked up my stamp, then stamped first on a piece of scrap paper before stamping the image on my card. This gives the image a faded look, so that it compliments rather than competes with the focal images.
I then took a piece of plastic cellophane (I had just opened a paper pack - I used the packaging from that), wadded it up and tapped in on my stamp pad just like I would a stamp. I went over the stamped images with my new "stamp" which produced a nifty pattern. I used both the same blue as the background image, and a complimentary color to the blue (same color as the focal image).
With some cardstock matting of the focal images, you have nice card that you literally made yourself!
